Bio

Previously worked as a Biotechnologist in Malaysia with Sime Darby. Following this, worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Plant Breeding (Cologne) and at the Department of Molecular Biology, University of Bonn, Germany. Left academia to work as a Project Manager for a bio-business development consultancy in Cambridge which helped biotech and life science companies overcome barriers to commercialisation. Gained broad experience in business analysis, technology strategies, product and technology transfer as well as market research and analysis. Managed projects to source novel pharmaceutical products from Europe and the US for a major Japanese pharmaceutical company for distribution in Japan, written strategic reports on Agricultural Biotechnology and Plant Biopharming, carried out biotech-related projects for the European Commission and organised international conferences in agricultural biotechnology and biomaterials. Co-founder and Business Development Director of Cambridge InnoVision, a technology startup which won a Wall Street Journal European Innovation Award and honourable mentions in various business plan competitions, has successfully marketed their product to over 90 institutions worldwide. MPhil in Genetics and a PhD in Plant Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
