Bio

Charlene R. Schachter joined Greenhouse Capital Partners in April 2007, shortly after the fund was launched. She brings cleantech policy and technology expertise to the fund with over 15 years in the public and private alternative energy and green economy sectors. Her investment focus is on emerging cleantech companies. She is responsible for sourcing investment opportunities, spearheading due diligence and maintaining ongoing relationships with the Firm's portfolio companies. Ms. Schachter is board observer with one of Greenhouse's portfolio companies: Lifefactory. Ms. Schachter's career has included highly entrepreneurial leadership roles in environmental non-profits and policy organizations. Prior to joining Greenhouse, she was Managing Director at Our Children's Earth Foundation a San Francisco-based organization dedicated to ensuring the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Acts are enforced. Ms. Schachter also served as the Deputy Director of San Francisco-based The Vote Solar Initiative. While serving as a consultant to the Henry P. Kendall Foundation, a Boston-based environmental grant making foundation, she founded her first start-up, Clean Air - Cool Planet, and served as its first Associate Director. Earlier in her career, Ms. Schachter was a consultant focused on motor fuels, renewable energy and air quality issues. Ms. Schachter has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation from the University of New Hampshire and Masters of Arts in Environmental Policy from Tufts University.
