Bio

David Mathewson joined Darby in September 2010 as Managing Director, Finance and Corporate Operations, with oversight responsibility for the financial, administration, HR and business development aspects of Darby's Corporate and Fund activities. Mr. Mathewson has over 24 years of experience in finance and emerging market private investment. Prior to joining Darby, he was Managing Director at Soros Fund Management LLC and an affiliate where he served as a founding member of the management team and Investment Committees of Southeast Europe Equity Fund I and II, two private equity funds for Southeast Europe and Turkey with combined capital of $520 million. Previously, he held positions in Washington, DC including, Director with Banc One Capital Markets where he was responsible for the development and management of emerging market merchant banking business including fund formation and private placements; Director with The Appian Group, a private equity management firm which focused on special situation opportunities in the US and Western Europe; Deputy Vice President for Investment Funds with Overseas Private Investment Corporation; Manager with KPMG Peat Marwick—Barents Group; and Vice President with American Mercantile Group, an affiliate of AIG. He began his career as a banker with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in New York. Mr. Mathewson received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics from Stanford University and a Master of Management degree from J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.
