David Panton

Bio

David Panton is a partner and co-founder of Navigation Capital Partners. David is the board chairman of Atlanta-based Brown Trucking, a transportation and logistics services provider. He also serves on the board of Atlanta-based Prepaid Solutions, a payments solutions provider, and Atlanta-based Brand Bank, a regional bank. He is a former board member or observer of Atlanta-based Dell SecureWorks (internet security), Dallas-based Exeter Finance (sub-prime auto finance), Atlanta-based Zavata (healthcare business process outsourcing) and Atlanta-based Computerjobs (IT job recruitment firm). Prior to Navigation Capital Partners, David was a vice president at Mellon Ventures, a $1.4 billion private equity firm affiliated with Mellon Financial Corporation, where he focused on long-term growth capital investments and buyouts. David was also the co-founder and managing director of Caribbean Equity Partners, a private equity firm targeting investments in the Caribbean and Latin America. David concentrated on mergers and acquisitions in Latin America while an associate at Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York. David received a Doctorate in management studies from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, where he was president of the Harvard Law Review, and a Bachelor of Arts in public policy from Princeton University. David also holds a Professional Director Certification from the American College of Corporate Directors, a public company director education and credentialing organization. David is an Adjunct Professor at Emory University's Goizueta Business School, where he teaches a course in private equity investing. He is also a member of the Southern 7 Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and a member of Leadership Atlanta (Class of 2012). He was named by Buyouts Magazine as "One of Eight Buyout Pros Under 40 to Watch" (2009) and by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as a one of the "40 Under 40" Rising Stars (2011). Additionally, David has previously served as a Senator in the Upper House of Parliament in Jamaica. Born and raised in Jamaica, David resides in Atlanta.
