Bio

Don is the Chairman and Founding Partner of ABS Capital Partners whose investment interests and experience span the business services, health care, media and communications and technology sectors. Prior to founding ABS Capital in 1990, Don spent more than 20 years with Alex. Brown & Sons Incorporated and was President and CEO from 1986 to 1991. In 1986, he took Alex. Brown public. He was the principal architect of Alex. Brown’s innovative industry-specific investment banking units. Don launched the firm’s health care, technology, and media and communications investing groups, and also led its Investment Banking Division before becoming CEO. These focused industry groups became the firm’s hallmark and brought it to a position of national prominence among Wall Street investment banks. The firm brought hundreds of growth companies to the public markets under his leadership and he developed a keen sense of the capabilities required of high quality management teams as well as an understanding of how institutional investors and strategic buyers value these companies through varying market cycles. While running Alex. Brown, a growth company itself, Don encountered many of the management issues that his portfolio company CEOs often face. He currently represents ABS Capital on the board of Brown Advisory Management LLC, ISO Group Inc, Tarpon Towers LLC and INTTRA Inc. He is also an observer on the board of Modular Space Corporation. He previously served on the boards of AMISYS Managed Care Systems Inc, American Radio Systems Inc, OTG Software Inc, SBA Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:SBAC) and Transaction Systems Architects Inc (NASDAQ:TSAI). Don is an independent director on the board of T Rowe Price Group Inc. Kenyon College, Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School.
