Bio

Dr. Drew Hoffmann joined InterWest's life sciences team in 2008. With over twenty-five years of experience in the life sciences industry, he has led numerous early stage companies in their efforts to transform research into marketable products. He is currently chief executive officer of InterWest portfolio company Nanostim - and chief technology officer of ODTx. Dr. Hoffmann is also a board observer at Gynesonics and MicroFabrica. Prior to joining InterWest, Dr. Hoffmann was chief executive officer of Inspiration Medical, where he directed the company in establishing novel sleep apnea therapies. He also held executive positions at Epicor and Ventritex and co-founded Sysflow Medical to assess the feasibility of an improved hemodialysis blood pump. Dr. Hoffmann built his expertise in medical devices by developing and bringing to market intravenous pumps, implantable pacemakers and defibrillators, and cardiac ablation devices. Dr. Hoffmann earned a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Stanford University. He holds 12 patents and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles about medical devices, materials, and polymer science.
