Bio

Dr. Bertino has more than 20 years of experience in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development, management and marketing. He has worked in projects for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA). Dr. Bertino managed the daily operation and P&L of his business unit, sets the strategic direction of the organization as well as the technical vision for his team. Dr. Bertino spent many years as a senior manager and executive working for the telecommunication industry. He has worked for Verizon where he led the ADSL Technology development and deployment which resulted in the first successful ADSL deployment in the country and received several patent in the field. He has worked on a VC funded startup focusing on ATM-to-Desktop and then ADSL CPE products. Dr. Bertino worked for large systems integrators supporting the Defense industry in IT products and services including the development and project management of a DSS application for tracking the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD); the development of e-commerce system for the mutual funds industry; the development of a real time Video Teleconferencing system; and the implementation of XTP over Ethernet and FDDI. Dr. Bertino received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technical University and his advanced degrees in information systems, and systems engineering from The George Washington University (GWU).
