Dr Parks is responsible for Ventana's Life Science investments. He is widely known in the Biotechnology industry and brings to Ventana his broad experiences as a distinguished researcher, a pharmaceutical executive, an entrepreneur and a life science investor. He has overseen the development of several biomedical products from inception through development and clinical trials to approval and market entry. Dr Parks has been a member of the Ventana family for more than a decade in a variety of capacities, as advisor and venture partner before assuming his current role as managing director. He has been active in the academic and industrial biomedical community for the past quarter century and has advised a wide range of life science companies and governmental agencies in California, across the US, around the Pacific Rim, and in Europe. Dr Parks previously held positions as President and Chief Executive Officer of Myelos Neurosciences, as Director of the Johnson & Johnson Biotechnology Center, and as a member of the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. Dr Parks has been engaged in research and development in cellular and molecular biology, the translation of biomedical technology into commercial products, and the formation and growth of Life Science companies throughout his professional career. Dr Parks earned his doctorate in microbiology and immunology at the University of Washington, in Seattle, and took post-graduate training at the Scripps Research Institute, in La Jolla.
