Bio

Mr Gordon Carrihill had extensive experience with natural resource companies in Africa and Europe prior to joining GEF in 2007. Mr Carrihill primarily manages GEF’s investments in Africa, and is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Prior to joining GEF, Mr Carrihill spent 13 years with Mondi, a subsidiary of Anglo American plc, a FTSE 100 natural resources company. During this time he held various positions in the group in South Africa in the Forestry and Corporate Finance areas. In 2001 he moved to Europe to assist in the expansion of the Corrugated Paper and Packaging business. His last position with the group was that of CFO of Mondi Packaging Europe, a business with a turnover of EUR 850 million operating across 10 European countries. In 2005 he returned to South Africa as an independent consultant. Mr Carrihill holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Certificate in the Theory of Accountancy. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of South Africa.
