Jim Fields is a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory Group. Since joining Blackstone, Mr Fields has focused on advising the firm’s investment banking clients and its private equity portfolio companies on structured financings to address tax, accounting, rating agency and finance issues that cannot be adequately resolved through traditional capital markets instruments. Prior to joining Blackstone, Mr Fields was Co-Head of the Structured Products Group at CSFB in New York. Prior to the merger of DLJ and CSFB he had co-headed the group at DLJ, which he joined in 1998 from Citigroup. He began his career practicing law at the IRS and Skadden Arps. In addition to his investment banking experience, he served as Director of Professional Staff for the President’s Bipartisan Commission on Entitlement and Tax Reform (1994), as the Tax Legislative Counsel of the US Treasury Department (1992–1993) and as Acting Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy for the US Treasury Department.
