Bio

Ken Spain joined the Private Equity Growth Capital Council in January 2011 after a long stint as a communications professional specializing in both campaign politics and public affairs. Between 2009 and 2010, Spain served as the Communications Director for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). He also served as the Press Secretary and National Spokesman for the NRCC from 2007 to 2008. Before joining the NRCC, Spain worked on Capitol Hill serving two members of the U.S. House of Representatives. From 2005 to 2006, he worked for Rep. K. Michael Conaway (R-TX) as his Deputy Chief of Staff and Press Secretary. From 2006 to 2007, Spain served as Communications Director for Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ). Before moving to Washington, Spain worked on a number of political campaigns, where he gained experience in the areas of communications and grassroots organizing. In 2004, he served as New Mexico Communications Director for the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign. Spain also worked on the respective primary and runoff campaigns of K. Michael Conaway (R-TX) and Michael McCaul (R-TX). Both went on to become members of Congress. He also worked as a District Representative for California State Sen. Bob Margett from 2002 to 2003. Mr.Spain earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
