Mo Koyfman is a Principal at Spark Capital. Like all at Spark, Mo does not shy away from risk, he embraces it. In risk is the opportunity for great success. Brands that connect with millions, disruptive market forces, crazy ideas, all require risk. And all have brought him serious rewards. Leaving the financial services industry to pursue opportunities in the Internet, at a time in 2001 when many were running for the exits. Finding the opportunities, forging the relationships, acquiring the knowledge that only comes from living in the trenches. Mo and his experience are yet another facet of why Spark works so strongly from our sweet spot. Mo has led Spark’s investments in Aviary , gdgt, Svpply , and Work Market. Before joining Spark, Mo spent six years at IAC (NASDAQ: IACI) in a variety of strategic, transactional and operational roles. Mo most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Connected Ventures, parent of CollegeHumor.com, BustedTees.com and Vimeo.com. There he was responsible for day-to-day management of the three businesses and oversaw all corporate functions, including advertising sales, business development, marketing, finance, legal and human resources. Prior to that, Mo helped establish IAC Programming, a new unit of the company focused on digital media opportunities. In his role as Vice President, Programming, he spearheaded the acquisition and integration of Connected Ventures and helped conceptualize and incubate a number of new businesses. Previously, Mo served as Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions, where he was responsible for identifying and executing strategic transactions for the company. He was previously a founding member of an IAC incubator where he helped conceive of and launch Pronto.com, a comparison shopping engine. Before that, Mo spent two years in IAC’s Strategic Planning group. Mo began his career as an investment banker at Bear Stearns, where he focused primarily on mergers and acquisitions in the media and entertainment sectors. Mo also serves on the Board of Directors of ArtWorks, an organization that brings creative and performing arts programming to children and young adults suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses. He joined Bear Stearns after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. He received a BS in economics from The Wharton School with a concentration in finance, and a BA in English from The College of Arts & Sciences.
