Bio

Shane Tulloch has over 15 years’ experience in entrepreneurial investing and leadership roles in the software and consulting industries, and recently joined Meakem Becker Venture Capital to focus on seeding new ventures and supporting the firm’s early-stage venture practice. Prior to joining MBVC, in 2005 Shane led a financing round and became CEO of SEEC, Inc., an enterprise software company focused on the insurance and financial services space. While at SEEC, Shane refocused the company through the launch of an award-winning product line of SOA/virtualized applications for insurance carriers, doubled revenues to $8 million, and turned the company from an operating loss of $3 million to an operating profit (EBIT) of $1.9 million by 2008. SEEC was successfully sold in late 2008 to Polaris Software Lab Limited. Before SEEC, in 1997 Shane joined FreeMarkets Inc., a pre-IPO supply management software and services company. Shane helped to build the company from its early stages of development at less than $1 million in sales, through its IPO in 1999, and on to an industry leading position with a world-class organization of over 1,100 people, $150 million in annual revenues from more than 200 Fortune 500 customers, and global operations spanning 18 offices across North American, Europe and Asia. While at FreeMarkets, Shane held several roles in operations and general management, founded a business unit serving the high technology vertical that grew to over $14 million in sales, and served as Senior Vice President for the European business of FreeMarkets, which included sales, marketing, services and operations teams in London, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt and Prague. During his tenure in Europe, the business grew from $12 to 26 million while enterprise clients more than tripled. Before joining FreeMarkets, Shane was employed at McKinsey & Co. a management consulting firm, from 1994 through 1997. While at McKinsey, Shane specialized in strategy and operations consulting, serving a range of Global 1000 clients in consumer goods, steel, telecommunications and electronics industries. From 1993 to 1994, Shane was also employed as a logistics manager in the New Zealand operations of Unilever, one of world’s largest consumer products companies. Shane holds a bachelor’s degree in economics, a master’s degree in finance, and a law degree, all obtained at the University of Auckland, in New Zealand.
