Dr. Mark is a founder of Butcher Mark Capital Advisors, headquartered in New York. Prior to this, he was a municipal finance investment banker at Goldman, Sachs and Co.. Prior to this, he was a Vice President at Brae Capital Corporation and a principal with Mark Ventures, LLC, a New York venture fund focused on technology companies. Previously, he served as a Senior Economist for the City of New York. In this capacity he analyzed and reported on New York City fiscal policy, writing on tax policy, debt, and economic development. Stephen has also been a senior research analyst at the acclaimed Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. While there, he drafted several chapters in a book that analyzed revenue and tax policy for the District of Columbia. He has extensive teaching experience, having been an adjunct professor at Hunter College, City University of New York; a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of Illinois and an Instructor and Teaching Assistant at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
