Todd Cater

Bio

Since joining the GEF Emerging Markets team in 2006, Mr Cater has focused on sourcing and managing investments in India and Latin America and he currently leads the team’s India-focused investment program.Prior to joining GEF, Mr. Cater worked as a business development manager for the Latin America region at the AES Corporation, a power company with assets in 27 countries. In that capacity, he led and/or participated in greenfield development activities for new power generation, acquisition opportunities in both generation and distribution, and refinancing efforts for AES’s Latin American subsidiary companies. Previously, Mr. Cater worked in the wholesale strategy group at Reliant Energy, where he developed commercial strategy initiatives for Reliant’s natural gas generation fleet in the Western United States. Mr Cater currently serves on the Board of Directors of Greenko Group (India) and Saisudhir Infrastructures Ltd (India) as well as on the technical committee of Red Ambiental SAPI (Mexico). From 2007 to 2009, he also served on the Board of Directors of Greenergy (Hungary). Mr Cater received an MBA in Strategic Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MA with distinction in International Economics and Latin American Studies from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
