Masabi is focused on the transit market, principally trains (commuter rail and metro systems), followed by near-term deployments on buses and boats. The company provides simple solutions for transit operators with complex needs. Consumers download apps which log and store tickets that are later validated at ticket gates. The company was founded in 2001 and started developing mobile ticketing applications in 2008. The company now processes over $200 million of ticket sales each year, with deployments in cities across four continents including New York, London, Boston, Los Angeles and Sydney. In December 2015, Masabi announced a $12 million funding round led by Lepe Partners with investment from leading international public transport operator Keolis, MasterCard, and MMC Ventures.
