Bio

Dr. Levy joined Frazier Healthcare in mid-2007 as a Venture Partner. Dr. Levy brings to Frazier Healthcare more than 30 years of senior operational experience in the medical device industry. Currently he serves as the CEO and on the board of Incline Therapeutics, a Frazier portfolio company. Incline is developing a novel drug/device combination to more effectively treat post-operative pain. Prior to joining Frazier, he was the President and CEO of Northstar Neuroscience, a company developing innovative therapies for neurological diseases and disorders. Dr. Levy previously served as President and CEO of Heartstream, a company that developed, manufactured, and marketed an innovative automatic external defibrillator (AED) that revolutionized the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest. He successfully guided the company through product development, several rounds of venture financing, FDA clearance and product launch, manufacturing scale-up, an IPO, worldwide sales and distribution, and ultimately orchestrated the sale of the company to Hewlett-Packard. Prior to joining Heartstream, he was President of Heart Technology, a company that developed, manufactured, and marketed devices for removing plaque from coronary arteries. The company was sold to Boston Scientific in 1995. Before joining Heart Technology, Dr. Levy was Vice President of Research and New Business Development and a member of the Board of the Ethicon division of Johnson & Johnson. At Ethicon, he was responsible for the acquisition and/or development of a large number of medical products, including synthetic absorbable sutures, coronary stents, surgical staplers and other mechanical wound closure products, growth factors for accelerated wound healing, and devices for minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Levy is Chairman of the Board of BaroSense, a Frazier company developing a minimally invasive approach to treat obesity. He also serves on the boards of several other companies including Intuitive Surgical, Proteus Biomedical and Orthocon. Dr. Levy is a member of the Board of Trustees of Seattle Biomedical Research Institute, a not-for-profit institute conducting research on infectious diseases such as AIDS, malaria and pneumonia. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from City University of New York and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Purdue University and an Honorary Doctor of Science from Purdue.
