Bio

Andrew leads the Michigan office. His broad and deep industry experience and knowledge of technology enables him to cover all of ESP's investment sectors. Andrew joined Early Stage Partners as Managing Director in October 2009, coincident with the firm's entry into Michigan. Prior to joining ESP, Andrew was Associate Director - Business Formation, for the University of Michigan Office of Technology Transfer. During his tenure at UM, he was involved in the formation of over three dozen technology based companies across a range of industries from software and materials to medical devices. Andrew also developed a national network of venture capital investors to review university opportunities. Over the preceding twenty years, Andrew was a key manager in multiple international telecommunications startup companies in the United States, U.K, and Brazil. He began his career at publicly held Canadian telecommunications and publishing giant MacLean Hunter, where he developed an expertise starting new ventures in cable television and telecommunications. Beginning in engineering, he rose through a series of promotions into general management. In 1995, Andrew relocated to Brazil to launch Canbras TVA, where he rose through a progression of positions to become President and CEO. While there, he participated in or led over $100 million in bank debt and public offerings, grew the company to 200,000 customers and over 600 employees and achieved 64% cumulative annual revenue growth. He remained with the company through the sale to a private equity group in 2003. Andrew holds a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and Management from McMaster University and an MBA with High Distinction from the University of Michigan.
