Bio

Prior to joining CSW in 2008, Mr. Stevens was President and Chief Executive Officer of Steinway & Sons, a position he held from 1985 through 2007. The Company went public in 1996 (LVB-NYSE) following two successive leveraged buyouts. During his career at Steinway, the Company revitalized its distribution network, improved product quality and introduced exclusive dealer territories. The Company also launched several new Steinway piano categories, including the Crown Jewel Collection, Limited Editions, Art Case pianos and the Legendary Collection. Additionally, the Company designed two new piano lines under the Boston and Essex brand names, creating the Family of Steinway-designed Pianos business model. Under Mr. Stevens’ leadership, Steinway & Sons expanded its operations with subsidiaries in Japan and China. In addition, Mr. Stevens and his team developed an innovative program to generate a growing number of sales to conservatories, schools of music and other institutions. Reflecting this vision, there are now 85 All-Steinway Schools worldwide. Mr. Stevens is past President of the Piano Manufacturers Association International and was The Music Trades’ 2006 “Person of the Year”. In the two decades of Mr. Stevens’ tenure, the Company's piano sales more than tripled, from $60 million to over $200 million. Prior to his tenure at Steinway, Mr. Stevens was President of Robert Williams Inc., a manufacturer of specialty plastic films. Before that, he had eight different responsibilities over 17 years with Polaroid Corporation. He lived in Tokyo for three years overseeing their Japanese subsidiary, and for the last year with the company he was Director of Marketing for all International Collectors Universe, Inc. (CLCT - NASDAQ) -The New England Conservatory - Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center Mr. Stevens holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
