Bio

Charlotte joined XENON in 2010 from PineBridge Investments, the former AIG Investments, where she built and lead AIG’s CIS private equity fund for more than four years, successfully investing in excess of $100m in retail, media and oil&gas projects. For more than a decade, Ms Philipps has been working closely with Natasha Tsukanova. Joint projects included a large investment in a key Russian oil services company in 2008, and the first investment in an oil asset in the CIS by CNPC, the Chinese National Oil Company. Joined AIG Investments in 2006 with a long career of successful investing in Russia and the FSU and is responsible for private equity activities in these regions. For over 12 years Ms Philipps worked at the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London where she was responsible for complex debt and equity investments in large scale oil & gas and industrial projects such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, the syndicated loan facilities for ArcelorMittal’s first CIS acquisition Ispat-Karmet in Kazakhstan. She has also led M&A, project finance, and merchant banking activities of a mid-sized, Moscow based investment bank. Ms Philipps, a German national, holds a law degree from the University of Munich, she practiced law in Munich and worked for Treuhandanstalt, the German Privatisation agency prior to her move to the EBRD.
