Bio

Erik S Katz is a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory group. Since joining Blackstone in 1992, Mr Katz has worked on a variety of Advisory and Private Equity transactions. Recent notable transactions include the $17.4 billion sale of Albertson’s to a consortium comprised of SUPERVALU, CVS, and Cerberus, and the sale of several assets and restructuring of Winn-Dixie Stores. Other notable transactions include the $13 billion merger of American Stores with Albertsons’, the restructuring of Fleming Cos, the sale of Great Lakes Transportation to Canadian National Railway, the $5 billion merger of Autoliv with Morton International’s airbag division, and the restructuring of PepsiCo’s bottling network in Latin America. Before joining Blackstone, Mr Katz was with CS First Boston’s Mergers & Acquisitions, Merchant Banking, and Product Development groups. Formerly, he was an equity analyst at Merrill Lynch and Nikko Securities’ asset management groups. Graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a BBA in Finance and a BA in Japanese Language and Literature.
