As a Managing Director General Catalyst Partners, Mr Hemant invests in early stage companies. His areas of special interest include clean energy, and consumer internet. Before joining General Catalyst in 2002, Hemant was founder and CEO of Isovia, a Boston-based mobile software and applications company that was acquired. Hemant is also the co-founder & Chairman of NECEC.org, a non-profit, focused on advancing New England's clean energy economy to global leadership and currently co-teaches “Founders Journey” at MIT, a course that he designed with the goal of de-mystifying entrepreneurship for engineering students. Mr Taneja is a board member at Clean Energy: ARC Energy, C12 Energy (Observer), CLEAResult, Mascoma, Modular Wind, Stion (Observer), and SunBorne Energy. Information Technology Investments: Jumptap (Observer), Humedica, Hunch, Sand9 and SynapDx, former board member of m-Qube (acquired by VeriSign in May 2006, Observer) and SiteAdvisor (acquired by McAfee in April 2006). his Non-profit board memberships includes Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, New, England Clean Energy Council (Founder) ,The GreenLight Fund , TUGG (Co-Founder) Mr Hemant is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning an MS in Operations Research, an MEng in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, a BS in Mathematics, a BS in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, and a BS in Biology & Biomedical Engineering.
