Bio

Hosein has served as Managing Director and Head of Global Private Equity Investments of Northgate since 2004. He brings more than 20 years of finance and deep analytical experience to the firm, along with his leadership of Northgate’s London office. He serves on the Advisory boards of several private equity firms headquartered in the United States, Western Europe, Emerging Europe, Russia, India, China and Japan. In addition to his role at Northgate, he currently serves as a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company, the world’s leading management consulting firm, on private equity and asset management. Prior to Northgate, Hosein served as Head of Global Private Equity Investments at the McKinsey Investment Office (MIO), a wholly owned subsidiary of McKinsey & Company. Before MIO, Hosein was a senior management consultant with the Private Equity and Asset Management Practices at McKinsey & Company. In this role, he was responsible for advising top global and European investment firms and government agencies about their respective private and public market investment strategies and capabilities. He also guided the leaders of top global investment firms about capability development, potential acquisitions, alliances, and restructurings. Hosein co-led McKinsey’s Excellence in US and European Private Equity, a landmark study and analysis of the investment and leadership strategies of leading private equity firms. In it, Hosein and his McKinsey colleagues identified the strategies of the sector’s top performers—as well as its worst—showing that only the best performers consistently beat the public markets. A frequent speaker and advisor for prestigious industry events, Hosein shares his expertise on areas ranging from private equity to risk management in public and private equity investments.
