Jim Rai

Bio

Jim Rai is a qualified lawyer with over 20 years' experience with a top ranking in the Legal 500; prior to moving into the business arena, he had spent 22 years in the legal arena, rising from outdoor clerk to one of the senior equity partners. As a member of the Cascade Global' management team, he offers extensive skills in structuring and practical and strategic commercial experience from his time as head of UK and international operations for a major Indian conglomerate. Jim Rai is also a member of Cascade Global’ investment committee. Immediately prior to joining Cedars Holding, he was a Director of Reva Capital, a management consultancy which specializes in Anglo-Indian corporate partnerships. There he provided advice on identifying new business areas and strategies, setting up the right management team and running effective international operations. In 2006, he qualified as an ADR mediator and has led a number of significant class actions, the most notable of which involved a leading retail bank in connection with irregularities on currency exchange procedures. In 1999, he became an equity partner at Winckworth Sherwood, a law firm he spent a total of 15 years at, having initially joined as a Commercial Litigation Lawyer. He led the dispute resolution team with focus on commercial/chancery disputes including banking, finance, solvency and professional indemnity. There his clients came from multi-national corporates through to prominent UK government agencies and from a wide range of industry sectors such as property development and banking. He began his career in the legal profession in the early 1990s at Glenisters Solicitors which he left in 1995 as an Assistant Solicitor to join Lewis Silkin as a Professional Indemnity Lawyer.
