Bio

Scott Hartley joined the Mobile and Consumer Internet team at Mohr Davidow with both an eye for detail and a love of the big picture. He is impassioned by big, disruptive ideas and believes that startups are at the center of economic development and progress. Scott brings a unique plurality of experience in Product, Operations, Platform, and Marketing from Facebook and Google, as well as knowledge in the public sector from the White House, State Department and United Nations. He believes that an interdisciplinary approach is fundamental to solving the biggest problems. Scott’s previous experience included collaborating with Randi Zuckerberg at Facebook on how Facebook Platform’s scale could be leveraged for social good. At Google he spent a year in India defining ways in which remote communities could contribute to Google’s product development, and he worked in business development in Africa advising the top entrepreneurs in Tanzania as a representative of Google.org and TechnoServe. He has also worked at Harvard University’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society where he studied the dynamics of online cooperation, looking at how site design and game mechanics can influence human behavior. “Mobile and Consumer Internet will continue to change the world,” he added. “We’re focused on answering the questions: How can we help entrepreneurs build the next rocket ship? How can we accelerate them to that escape velocity?” Holds a B.A. from Stanford University, an M.A. in International Affairs with focus in Economic Policy from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
