Andre Steyn

Bio

Mr Steyn joined AIG Investments in 2000 and leads its private equity activities in Africa. In this capacity, he led the regional team that served as Investment Advisor to the AIG Africa Infrastructure Fund, subsequently leading direct investments throughout the region made by other AIG vehicles. Previously, Mr Steyn was responsible for infrastructure project finance transactions at FBC Fidelity Investment Bank in Johannesburg where he participated in toll road, water and the first private prison transaction in SA. From 1984 to 1998, Mr Steyn was with the Development Bank of Southern Africa (“DBSA”), where he was responsible for a number of innovative transactions. Mr Steyn also played a prominent role in establishing the concept of Public Private Partnerships in South Africa. Mr Steyn has Masters and Bachelors (Hons) degrees in Engineering from the University of Pretoria.
