In the past 30 years, has been a banking lawyer at Slaughter & May, Head of the Financial Institutions Group at Merrill Lynch, Head of Capital Markets at Salomon Brothers, MD Financial Institutions at BZW/ Barclays Capital and most recently a senior partner at Deloitte & Touche responsible for the development of the Firm’s relationships with Financial Institutions. In product development, has used his experience in tax, law, accounting, regulatory and market issues to be a leading market practitioner in developing new forms of regulatory capital for Financial Institutions including the market standards of Tier 1 directly issued preference shares and Reserve Capital Instruments. At Deloitte, led the initiative for the creation of Basel 2 solutions and developed a unique integrated approach to mandatory regulatory change. In new business development, founded and built the Merrill Lynch FIG team into a market leader, re-built the Salomon Brothers capital markets team and at Deloitte was the partner in charge of Business Development and Origination for Financial Institutions bringing together expertise throughout the Firm.
