Bio

Greg Kiernan is the Managing Partner and founder of Sonostar Capital Partners LLC, an entrepreneurial investment fund established in 2005 and headquartered in Westchester, New York. As such, he oversees all aspects of the fund’s investments and is the fund’s largest investor, having provided 25% of the fund’s investment capital. He is also President and CEO and a founding partner of Sonostar Ventures, LLC, an investment, private equity and venture capital firm which he established with David Moore in April 1997 and which is no longer actively investing. Prior to founding Sonostar Ventures, Mr. Kiernan worked on Wall Street at Lehman Brothers, Salomon Brothers and then for 10 years at PaineWebber, where he was a Senior Managing Director in charge of the firm’s institutional Corporate Bond, High Yield, Preferred Stock and Mortgage Backed Securities Departments. Mr. Kiernan served as a senior member of PaineWebber’s Executive Operating Committee, as the Fixed Income representative on the firm’s Risk Management Committee and as one of eight voting members on the firm’s Commitment Committee. Until he left PaineWebber in 1997, Mr. Kiernan served as a Director on the Executive Committee of the Public Securities Association. Before starting his Wall Street career, Mr. Kiernan worked for Cravath, Swaine and Moore as an attorney admitted to practice law in New York State. Mr. Kiernan serves as a board member on a number of the companies in which Sonostar invests. In addition, he is a former president and currently vice president and a director of Baypoint Navigation Corp., a Fire Island ferry service. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Newburgh San Miguel Academy, where he chairs the fundraising and marketing committees. He is a Canterbury School alumni class agent, past chairman of the Amherst College 25th Reunion Gifts Committee and a recipient of the Amherst College Alumni Distinguished Service Award, a member of the Fairfield University Parents’ Committee, a director of the Centurion Foundation and a member of various other charitable ventures. Mr. Kiernan holds a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from Amherst College, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
