Ted Beneski is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Insight Equity Holdings LLC. Insight Equity currently manages two buyout funds and a mezzanine debt fund. Insight's total capital under management is approximately $800M. Its institutional investors consist primarily of academic endowments, foundations, state investment funds and pooled funds. Insight currently owns and operates 9 portfolio companies: 1) Direct Fuels, a specialty refiner and fuel distributor; 2) Vision-Ease, a manufacturer of prescription lenses for eyeglasses; 3) Hirschfeld Industries, a fabricator of structural steel for bridges, stadiums, mass transit structures and other commercial projects; 4) Walker Group Holdings, a manufacturer of stainless steel and aluminum tanks for the dairy, chemical, fuel and pharmaceutical industries; 5) Sportexe, a designer, distributor and installer of synthetic turf systems for athletic field, aviation and landscape applications; 6) Atwood Mobile Products, a designer and manufacturer of appliances, electronic products, doors and windows for recreational vehicles and specialty markets; 7) AEC Holdings, comprised of a fuel terminal operation, reclamation services, trucking, and biodiesel production; 8) Superior Silica Sands, a producer and processor of frac sand for natural gas and oil well drilling; and 9) Meadow Valley, a concrete contractor for the construction of highways, bridges and overpasses. Ted is currently Chairman of the Board of Direct Fuels, Vision-Ease Lens, Hirschfeld Industries, Walker Group Holdings, Sportexe Holdings, Atwood Mobile Products, Superior Silica Sands and Meadow Valley. Prior to founding Insight Equity, Ted was a co-founder and Senior Vice President of the Carlyle Management Group (CMG), a private equity group which yielded investment returns of over 60% annually. This group was the Carlyle Group's turnaround entity which also managed its own dedicated fund. Before CMG, Ted was the co-founder and Managing Director of Bain & Company’s Dallas office. Bain is a global leader in strategy-based management consulting services Ted advised Fortune 100 clients across a wide range of industries in the areas of portfolio and business unit strategy, mergers and acquisitions, operational improvement, organizational and process redesign, new product introduction and growth strategy. Ted received his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA with honors from Amherst College, majoring in economics.
