Bio

Tom joined Menlo Ventures in 1986. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Director of the Information Systems Group at Dataquest Incorporated. Prior to Dataquest, he worked for the Hewlett-Packard Company as an engineering manager in the computer systems, manufacturing applications and data communications groups. Tom also worked for Bell Laboratories and was a member of the Electrical Engineering faculty at Stanford University. At Menlo, Tom focuses on early-stage communications, Internet and software companies. His prior investments and board seats include: Aspect Communications (ASPT); Caw Networks, acquired by Spirent Communications (SPM); Clarify, acquired by Nortel (NT); Latitude Communications (LATD); newScale; Priority Call, acquired by LHS Group; Red Brick, acquired by Informix (IFMX); Rubric, acquired by Broadbase (BBSW); Synoptics Communications, that merged with Wellfleet to form Bay Networks, which was acquired by Nortel (NT); and Xros, acquired by Nortel (NT). Tom is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.S. in Science Engineering), New York University (M.E.E. in Electrical Engineering), and Stanford University (Ph.D. in Computer Science).
