Bio

Mr Al Maskati is a Director for Dubai International Capital’s Emerging Markets division, where he is focused on investment opportunities in the Middle East region, particularly the Gulf States. His role includes origination, transaction negotiation, managing due diligence processes and deal structuring. Prior to this, Mr Al Maskati was with DIC’s Private Equity division for 4 years where he worked on the leveraged buyouts of The Tussauds Group, Doncasters, Travelodge and Mauser, as well as the merger of Tussauds with Merlin Entertainments. In addition, he was involved in the acquisition of Almatis, for which he is a member of the supervisory board. Mr Al Maskati joined DIC in January 2005 from Banc of America Securities in London where he focused on mergers, acquisitions and capital raising in industrial sectors such as chemicals, logistics, packaging and defense. Notable transactions include Bayer’s €1.5 billion spin-off of Lanxess AG, Cadbury’s €6.1 billion acquisition of Pfizer’s Adams and Bain Capital’s bid for Basell Petrochemicals. He completed his investment banking training with Banc of America Securities in New York, US. Prior to that, he worked briefly with Merrill Lynch in Bahrain. Mr Al Maskati holds a BSc in Economics & Political Science (with Honours) from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. He has also completed executive mergers & acquisitions education at Stanford Business School (Stanford University) in California, US. Mr Al Maskati is a UK FSA Registered Corporate Finance Advisor.
