Gary joined TL at its formation in 1989 leaving Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (NYSE: SFE) as its Executive Vice President responsible for technology strategy. On joining TL, Gary applied his knowledge and background to investments in both healthcare and information technology. He was founding chairman of Myco Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (which was acquired by Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (TL 1 – 3x return) (NASDAQ: MLNM)) and lead investor in Quadrant Healthcare, plc. (London Exchange: QTH), both early investments in TL. Similarly he led and/or was chairman of many IT companies including EMAX Solution Partners, Inc. (which was acquired by SciQuest.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: SQST)), WiseWire Corporation (TL3 – 5x return) (which was acquired by SciQuest.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: SQST)), WiseWire Corporation (TL3 – 5x return) (which was acquired by Lycos, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCOS) and MatchLogic, Inc. (TL3 - 21x return) (which was acquired by Excite, Inc. (NASDAQ: XCIT He served as a senior consultant to numerous multinational corporations including Motorola, Inc., Siemens AG and Hewlett Packard Co., the last of these serving on both Advisory Committees and in product and software development. He then joined Safeguard, becoming Executive Vice President and subsequently taking responsibility as CEO for two of its software companies. Gary began his career at Wayne State University and graduated from University of Michigan with a doctorate of medicine.
