Bio

Previously worked for Frere Cholmeley (later Frere Cholmeley Bischoff), becoming partner in 1973 and Chief Executive in 1990. Subsequently left the firm to establish his own business in 1995. Also enjoyed a distinguished political career. In 1974, was elected to represent Mortlake (London Borough of Richmond upon Thames), retaining his seat for 24 years and chairing the council's Policy and Resources Committee for 13 years. In 1986, became joint Treasurer of the Liberal Party and then the newly-merged Liberal Democrats in 1988. Received a CBE in 1993 and was created a life peer in 1997. Chaired the Liberal Democrats' Campaigns and Communications Committee from 2000 until 2006. Attended Oxford University and qualified as a solicitor in 1969.
