Bio

He has been a researcher and a techie with rich operational experience in building & managing software products and businesses from the ground-up. He holds two US patents for his research in the broad area of software architecture. Prior to joining Ventureast, he spent seven years with Sun Microsystems in California, where he played varied roles in its Systems Management and Computer Systems groups, including leadership roles in the marketing, product management, and engineering functions. Even as a student-researcher in the US, his penchant for entrepreneurial endeavor led him to be involved briefly with an IT start-up company in California. As part of the Proactive Fund team at Ventureast, he currently works with early stage companies in the technology, telecommunications, outsourcing, financial services, and alternative energy sectors. His experience and professional network have been of immense value to the companies he works with. In one instance, when a start-up needed to diversify its revenue stream by entering new markets, he helped them by leveraging his network and putting them in touch with heads of high-prospect customers. In another instance, when a start-up needed to understand and streamline its operating costs, Rama persuaded them about the need to invest in an MIS, and then guided them in their choice of an appropriate IT solution. MBA from Cornell University, Masters in Computer Science from the University of Rhode Island, and Bachelors in Computer Science from the University of Mysore.
