Tom W Siegel

Bio

Tom Siegel, a Managing Director and co-founder of Shepherd Ventures, has over 20 years experience in venture capital, entrepreneurial ventures and management consulting. He focuses on investments in mobile/wireless, digital media, Internet and software. Tom serves on the boards of portfolio companies including SpecificMEDIA, Quickoffice, Digital Orchid and LTI Lighting. As Senior Vice President of Advantage Capital Partners, a $700 million early stage venture fund, Tom's investments resulted in several public offerings. He was the founder of the National Association of Venture Forums (NAVF) and the US Small Business Administration selected him as a Financial Services Advocate of the Year. Prior to Advantage Capital, Tom founded and/or served as President and Chief Executive Officer of various companies, primarily in the software and publishing industries. Earlier in his career, Tom was a Management Consultant with, and a member of the M&A Group of KPMG Peat Marwick. He is a member of the CFA Institute and is a past Chairman and President of the CFA Society of San Diego. Tom is active in the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) and is a past board member of Planet ATE. Tom received a BA in Economics and an MBA from the University of Illinois. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
